Lin, this is fascinating. I love seeing artists' notes and sketches. In fact in the past 2 weeks I've seen two remarkable ones - at the De Young Museum, there is a show of the work of Ruth Asawa, a sculptor. While her work is interesting, what fascinated me most were her notebooks from art school, full of amazing drawings and doodles. Then last week, Michele Tsouris and Beth were here staying with us (from Whidbey). They were doing an art show in SF, and Michele showed me her sketchbook. It took my breath away. It was full of magnificent tiny drawings of possible compositions for paintings, ideas of things she is imagining and dreaming, and all done in neat small boxes in black ink. There wasn't a scribbled out drawing in the whole notebook and they were beautiful. So I'm delighted to see your drawings here. I think that drawing is perhaps the thing I like most, so far. Color is challenginf - I'll get it, but there is so much to learn and understand. You have such a mastery for color as well as for drawing. This series will be stunning. I think it might call for a trip to see it when it gets installed!! xoxoxoxo
